First tournament day morning was pretty cool (5-10 °C), but temperature has been raising quickly and lunch was enjoyed outside in a T-shirt.

Observations and comments
First day started well for the Finns as Hannu Haanpää, Aimo Lindberg, Jarmo Ojanperä, Juha Pekonen, Jammu Saari, and Juha Saarentaus won their first matches. But then reality hit as Jouko Puustinen, Tomi Tirkkonen, Juha Söderström, Jarkki Jaakkola, Pertti Pöysä, and Jarmo Suokko lost their first matches. In the evening matches Juha Pekonen, Jammu Saari, Juha Saarentaus, Aimo Lindberg, and Jarmo Ojanperä had to leave the main draw in M50.
In M65 Risto Kumpulainen got a walk over and continues in the main draw. Hannu Haanpää in M45 played well and continues tomorrow as well as Nalle Parmonen in M40. Lars Ekholm (M60) and Bertil Walli (M65) will start tomorrow.
Hannu smashed his first opponent today with strong back court game. In the second game Hannu continued strong attacking games giving only 7 points in two games. Tomorrow Hannu will play against 5/8 seeded Mark Millar (NZL). Juha Söderström had an equal fight with Mike Beresford, but Juha should have avoided unforced errors especially at the end of games.
