World Masters opened in CHC

The 9th World Masters Squash Championships were opened in Christchurch (CHC), New Zealand. In the opening ceremony national teams were marching behind their countries’ flags and signs. Marching started from the Bridge of Remembrance, took place along Oxford Terrace following the picturesque Avon River, and ended up to the Victoria Square for the opening ceremony. Maori performance was exotic and impressing. After the obligatory welcome speeches the crowds moved to the CHC Town Hall for cocktail party. Link to photos.
New Zealand’s TV sports news had today three main topics: F1, tennis masters tournament (both Federer and Nadal lost), and World Masters Squash Championships.
